Terms
Terms of Use
Effective date 10 June 2026 · Last updated 10 June 2026
These terms govern the use of Mundus. By signing in, depositing coins, or taking a country, the user accepts these terms in full. If the user does not accept them, the service must not be used.
Section 1
Operator
Mundus is operated from Brazil as an independent project. There is no separate legal entity at this time. Operational matters are handled by a single human reviewer through [email protected].
Section 2
What Mundus is
Mundus is a global registry of country ownership operating in continuous time. Users acquire coins with real money and may use those coins to take any country on the map from its current ruler. The platform exists for interactive entertainment.
Mundus is not a financial product, an investment, a security, a commodity, a deposit account, a gambling service, a game of chance, a betting service, or a marketplace for the trading of value. Coins and Legacy points carry no monetary value outside the platform and cannot be cashed out, exchanged for currency, or transferred to another person.
Section 3
Eligibility
The service is available to users who are at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity to enter into binding agreements in their jurisdiction. The service may be unavailable in jurisdictions where its operation is restricted by law; in those cases the user is responsible for compliance.
Each person may operate a single account. Operating multiple accounts, or operating an account on behalf of another person without explicit authorization, is a violation of these terms.
Section 4
Account and identity
Sign-in is delegated to Google. Mundus does not handle the user password. The user is responsible for keeping the underlying Google account secure and for the activity performed on Mundus while signed in.
The Mundus username is chosen during onboarding and cannot be changed afterward. The display name and the avatar can be edited at any time. Both are visible on country pages, ranking entries, and historical events.
Account closure does not result in physical deletion of the account row. Mundus anonymizes the account in place: the display name is replaced with a generic placeholder and the avatar is reset to default, while historical events that reference the account remain intact with the display name preserved as it appeared at the time of each event. This is required to maintain the integrity of the public record.
Section 5
Purchases, coins and irreversibility
Read this section carefully
- Coins are destroyed when used to take a country. They are not returned and they are not transferred to the previous ruler.
- A confirmed takeover cannot be reversed by the user. There is no cancellation window and no undo.
- Coins have no monetary value outside Mundus and cannot be cashed out.
- Legacy points are not currency and cannot be converted to coins or money.
Coins are an internal unit of account used to take countries. They have no value outside Mundus. They cannot be sold, transferred, withdrawn, or exchanged for real money or for any other asset.
Coins are acquired by paying real money to Stripe through the published coin packages. The conversion rate between fiat and coins is determined by the package selected and is final at the moment of confirmation by Stripe. Stripe acts as the merchant of record for these transactions and applies its own terms in addition to these.
When a user confirms a takeover, the current price displayed by the system at that instant is deducted from the user's coin balance and the country's ownership transfers atomically. The coins deducted are destroyed: they leave circulation and are not credited to the previous ruler. The previous ruler receives Legacy points proportional to the price paid, recorded permanently on the public record.
A takeover is irreversible by the user at the moment of confirmation. Mundus does not provide a cancellation window, an undo control, or a dispute mechanism for outcomes that the user regrets after the fact. Being deposed by another ruler shortly after taking a country is a normal outcome of the system and does not entitle the user to a refund.
No refund is available for coins that have already been consumed in a takeover, including takeovers followed quickly by a deposition. Refunds of unconsumed coins still in the user's balance are only processed in cases required by applicable law or where Stripe confirms a duplicate or fraudulent charge or where the operator confirms a platform malfunction directly attributable to Mundus. Processing follows the rules of the payment gateway and may be returned as a credit reversal on the original payment method or as a coin adjustment, at the operator's discretion within the limits of the applicable law.
The price of a country at any given instant is computed by the server from the country's takeover history. The server's value at the time the transaction is committed is the authoritative value. Prices displayed by the client are indicative and may change between the time they are shown and the time the user confirms.
Legacy points are reputation, not currency. They cannot be redeemed for coins, money, or any other asset, and they cannot be transferred between accounts. Legacy persists on the user's public record indefinitely.
Section 6
Rules of play
The user agrees not to: automate takeovers or any other action on the platform; reverse-engineer the price function, the legacy function, or any rate limit, with the intent of bypassing them; operate multiple accounts to take countries from oneself or otherwise distort the public record; abuse the payment process through fraud, friendly fraud, chargeback abuse, or stolen payment methods; attempt to access another ruler's account.
Violations may result in suspension or anonymization of the offending account and forfeiture of remaining coins, without refund. Mundus may also reverse takeovers obtained through fraud for the limited purpose of restoring the integrity of the public record.
Section 7
Content and conduct
The display name and the avatar are user-supplied content that appears throughout the platform and in historical events. The user warrants that this content does not infringe the rights of any third party and does not contain hateful, harassing, sexual, illegal, or deceptive material, including impersonation of a public figure or another ruler.
Mundus may normalize, redact, or replace the display name or avatar to remove disallowed content. When this occurs the historical record is preserved using the value as it appeared at the time of each event, except where the value itself is the violation.
Section 8
Availability and changes
Mundus is provided on a continuous basis without a contractual uptime guarantee. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, for the resolution of incidents, or to protect the integrity of the public record. Brief interruptions of normal play, including the inability to confirm a takeover during an incident window, do not entitle the user to compensation.
Coin package prices, the price multiplier applied at takeover, the Legacy multiplier, and any other published economic parameter may be adjusted by the operator. Adjustments apply prospectively. Coins already credited to a user's balance remain available for use; takeovers already committed remain on the public record as they happened.
Section 9
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranty, express or implied, beyond those that cannot be excluded under the applicable law. Mundus does not warrant uninterrupted operation, the absence of defects, or fitness for any particular purpose beyond interactive entertainment.
Section 10
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of Mundus to a user for any claim arising out of or related to the service is limited to the total amount the user paid for coins on Mundus in the six months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Mundus is not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of opportunity, or emotional distress arising from a takeover or a deposition.
Section 11
Termination
The user may stop using Mundus at any time and may request anonymization of the account through [email protected]. Mundus may suspend or anonymize an account for violation of these terms, for protection of the public record, or where required by law. Termination does not entitle the user to a refund of consumed coins.
Section 12
Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through the support channel is submitted to the competent courts of Brazil, except where a non-waivable consumer protection rule of the user's residence requires a different venue.
Section 13
Changes to these terms
Mundus may update these terms. The effective date and the last updated date are shown at the top of this page. Material changes are communicated through a notice on the platform before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
